The more we learn about the world, the more we see how it operates under elegant laws. There is an order to the universe that betrays the randomness you so often hear about.
Meet our guests
Professor Andrew Briggs is a leading quantum mechanics and nanomaterials scientist, currently working at the University of Oxford. A Christian, he has written and co-written a huge number of publications, including ‘The Penultimate Curiosity: How science swims in the slipstream of ultimate questions’.
Ard Louis is a Professor in Theoretical Physics at Oxford where, among other things, he currently leads an interdisciplinary research group that investigates scientific problems on the border between disciples such as chemistry, physics, and biology. You may remember him from an appearance alongside Morgan Freeman in the 2017 docu-series ‘The Story of God‘.

- Isaac Newton had to contend with a lockdown due to a deadly plague that swept across the UK in the 17th century. During this time, he developed his calculus theories and gravitational equation, among others. Watch this video that explains it.
- Disney is stepping into the world of quantum physics next year. Watch the trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania here.
- Quantum Physics for 7-year-olds is an excellent, lighthearted introduction to the spooky world of science’s new frontier, courtesy of Dominic Walliman.
- Many great minds have pondered where the concept of God fits in with the universe – here’s Brian Cox talking to Joe Rogan about the very topic.
- The Science of Symmetry by Colm Kelleher is a great introduction to the world of shapes and patterns appearing throughout the natural world.
- Richard Dawkins explaining the biomorph computer program back in 1991 is a dated – but fascinating – watch.
- There’s a lot to wrap your head around regarding evolution – this video explaining convergent evolution vs. divergent evolution should hopefully help!
- Simon Conway-Morris lectures for the Centre for Public Christianity are a wonderful resource for any Christian looking for ways to engage on the topic of evolution – and fantastic food for thought for anybody.
- Newton saw the universe as proof of a divine creator – leaning on the ‘God of the Gaps’ idea. This article from NPR breaks it down.
- G.W. Leibniz was another celebrated mathemetician and a peer of Newton’s. Stephen Wolfram’s essay is a perfect introduction to his brilliance.
- Quantum Mechanics is very confusing – this essay titled A ridiculously short introduction to some very basic quantum mechanics may help!
- To help them understand it, the production team on Ant-Man even hired a Quantum scientist – The New York Times details it all.
- The New Yorker has a fascinating yarn on the race to develop a Quantum computer.
- Marilynne Robinson’s A theology of the present moment is an excellent essay exploring the role of scripture in the realm of Science as the boundaries continue to develop and expand.
- ‘How Quantum Computing Will Change The World’ is another piece of essential reading on this topic – courtesy of The Digital Speaker.
- Albert Einstein’s musings on the creator behind the material world are world-renowned. His article in The Saturday Post in 1929 is some of the most articulate food for thought in this field.
- James Clerk Maxwell’s refusal to join the Victoria Institute is a fascinating example of a believer committed to discovering the secrets of the creator through the medium of science.
- Kate Golembiewski’s New York Times article ‘Life Preference for symmetry is like a new law of nature unpacks the curious tendency for biology to repeat itself and looks at how technology can harness this pattern, reporting on Ard Louis’s research.
- Professor Louis has written extensively on the harmony between evolution and the possibility of intelligent design – always worth your time!
